How to Wear Tangerine For Fall – Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year

So if you’re anything like me, you sort of don’t know about tangerine. This color of the rainbow hasn’t been a huge part of your wardrobe, like, ever. But this sunny shade surprisingly looks great on most skin tones (it’s the muted mustard seed and cinnamon shades that are tricky to wear). Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s 2012 color of the year, has been all the rage. Sephora even offered a seasonal cosmetic line featuring the bright orange hue.

Like most of us, if you are hesitant to jump into a bright orange suit for work, don’t you worry. Wear a little bit at a time and see if tangerine suits you — your skin tone, your personality, your age, your style, etc. Here are my tips to wearing this fun color into Fall, for both work and play.

Actress Marlee Matlin Wears Stella & Dot Earrings on NBC’s “The Apprentice”

Last week’s Celebrity Apprentice sure surprised me! Meatloaf went off the deep end, Lil Jon decided to take up painting and John Rich stepped up his game as project manager. However, the most impressive and surprising thing about the Sunday, April 3, 2011 episode was how both teams raised over a million dollars for charity.

And on top of it all, I was pleasantly surprised to see Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin wearing the green Garden Party Chandelier Earrings from Stella & Dot! As project manager, she helped raise nearly $1 million dollars for a charity very near and dear to her heart: the Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization who offers education regarding hearing matters and offering the gift of hearing around the world to those in need. The men raised over $600,000 for St. Jude’s Children ‘s Research Hospital, the only cancer research facility dedicated to children.

This Fall is all about versatility and fabulousness — getting back to basics and having fun with fashion. And that being said, I’ve picked out my top 5 personal faves of the season. And I’m telling you… It wasn’t easy!

1.) Avery Chains & Pearl Necklace — This is a perfect mix of sweet pearls and tough silver chains and it really plays into the rocker chic trend that’s all the rage right now. Pair it with a bright yellow top and rolled-up boyfriend jeans for a look that you can wear now, while the weather is still warm. And then later wear it with killer heels and a trendy studded blazer. Oh, and don’t forget the smoky eye.

2.) Garden Party Earrings — Oh. My. Gosh. I just can’t get enough of these earrings! (I told you that I was more of a Spring/Summer kind of girl!) Pinks and purples get me every time and this hand-painted enamel pair is no exception. It’s breathtakingly beautiful. Wear it with a colorful dress and fierce stacked heels.

3.) Jenna Pearl & Ribbon Necklace — This necklace touches on so many trends — from ribbons to pearls to the black and white color palette — that it’s a must-have for the season. Plus, it’s so feminine, it’s a nice balance to the tougher, menswear-inspired looks that are popular right now.

4.) Alana Embroidered Cuff — This is literally a piece of artwork and it’s stunning as much as it is wearable. Swarovski crystals and glass stones give it a great shimmer and the hand-stitching lends it a vintage look. It adds the right amount of visual weight to your look with the bold color (it also comes in a plum), but doesn’t add the physical weight of wearing a large cuff. 5.) La Coco Brooch Necklace — Argh. I really couldn’t decide whether or not to place this piece in the top 5 over the Grace Pearl Bauble Bracelet. But this one tipped the scale because of its versatility and wearability. This 3-in-1 piece can be worn several ways in a necklace/bracelet/brooch combo. Brooches are coming back into style, thanks to our First Lady Michelle Obama and her effortless, timeless style.
