Behind the Design: Stella & Dot’s Fall 2013 Jewelry Collection

Creating the Stella & Dot fall 2013 jewelry collection was truly a collaborative process at our New York design studio. Pricella and I traveled to Europe to visit vintage dealers and flea markets as well as take in the local street style. We found inspiration everywhere from a patina covered fountain to 19th century glass chandelier pieces. After returning to New York, we worked with our design team including our model makers to create unique elements to each style. No detail is too small for us and I love that about our team in New York. We wanted to create a collection that stood out among the rest and made a statement.
We like to include custom elements as much as possible in our designs. Many of our pieces this season have beautifully hand-cut stones and custom metal beads designed specifically in our NY design studio. What starts as a sketch is then recreated as a wax model. This wax model is then transformed into a metal casting that can be used to create the custom elements found in many of our fall pieces. We wanted to create a collection that has a lot of dimension and texture that can really update your favorite LBD or simple white tee.
