Spotlight on 2009 Cannes Fashion
The stars pulled out all the stops at Cannes with gorgeous one-shoulder frocks, elegant metallics and shimmery hues. Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (below left) looked absoluteley breathtaking and epitomized red carpet beauty. Evangeline Lily (below, second from right) got a D rating from Yahoo, but I beg to differ. Her blue dress suited her athletic, laid-back personality and showed off her toned arms. Although, I do wish she would have went with some dangly earrings and a sparkly bracelet or ring. And Rachel Weisz (below, middle) looked fabulous in her green Valentino, but I think her hair took the spotlight. Doesn’t it look amazingly shiny and utterly fantastic?
Don’t we all wish we could be decked out in diamonds, yards of silk and taffeta and rockin’, sky-high heels? Well, take your own bite out of red carpet style, even if you’re on a budget. Try these three tips:
1.) Start with a fabulous dress! We all know red carpet style is ALL about the dress. Since it’s approaching summer, go with a shorter dress for your special occasion. Something more neatral or metallic can go anywhere and will never go out of style. The one-shoulder look or bright colors are more trendy, but very hot right now.

2.) Heels, of course! No red carpet look would be complete without some fabulous heels! Most experts agree that every woman should splurge on one well-made pair of pumps, but for this look, I say, go hott and go cheap! You don’t need to spend more than $100 on fun heels.

3.) Top It Off with Something Sparkly! We all love accessories, and jewelry is an absolute must for a special occasion. If you can afford to get something extra sepcial — do it! Don’t go overboard, though. Look at your dress carefully and choose your jewelry wisely. If your dress has a high hemline AND a high neckline (like most of the dress above) choose larg, dangly earrings and forgo a necklace — especially with a one-shouldered dress. Choose a bracelet or ring to finish it off.
